As there is more demand on the clinical staff in a clinical practice setting, there is a need to address how the increase in that demand is affecting clinicians. Providing methods for recognizing the signs of burnout, managing work related tasks, coping with stress, increasing physical activity, improved nutritional intake, can assist in making better choices. Literature has shown that when providers make healthy choices, they pass on that knowledge to others, which can include the patient population.

This all-day event will promote the collaboration and interprofessional discussion regarding current innovative techniques and treatments. It will address the current debate surrounding approaches to the mitral valve: catheter-based procedures vs. open heart surgery. While there is some resistance to the use of catheter-based procedures in the treatment of mitral valve disease, this is mostly due to an existing stigma that assumes the old way is the best way.
