Anupama Mehta, MD will be moderating a timely panel discussion during National Burn Awareness Week featuring speakers Matthew Brennan from the Department of Fire Services, Robert Sheridan, MD, from Shriner’s Hospital for Children, and Jeffrey Schneider, MD from Spaulding Rehabilitation Center. The conversation will raise awareness on common causes of burns, experiences of long-term outcomes after burn injury, and best practices for preventing burns
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:
- Describe long-term outcomes and quality of life following traumatic burn injury
- Determine ways to incorporate burn prevention in participants work and daily life
- Apply strategies for engagement with burn prevention efforts outside of the medical realm, i.e. in policy and community domains
Target Audience:
This activity is intended for internal stakeholders from Brigham and Women's Hospital, as well as external stakeholders from organizations such as the Departments of Public Health, surrounding Boston-area hospitals, and our local community-based organizations. Audience members are from various backgrounds such as clinicians, researchers, public health professionals, local and state government, and the community-based non-profit sector.
