Session Title: "Tools to Distinguish Your Research: Presentation on ORCID, Pubmed, etc"

Learn how you can use existing library and other electronic tools to distinguish yourself and highlight the output of your work.

Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:  

  • Create an ORCID account and understand how your ORCID ID can help you distinguish yourself by allowing your publications to be easily identified.
  • Calculate your H-index.
  • Create a link to a PubMed search strategy that produces a list of your publications.
  • Use MyNCBI to create a bibliography and search alerts to your publications.

This activity is intended for faculty and faculty trainees.

Presenter:  Daniel C. McCloskey, MLIS, Associate Director of Technical & Access Services at MGH’s Treadwell Library. He’s been a medical librarian for nearly 20 years, including the last 12 at Mass General. During his time at MGH, he’s helped hundreds of researchers and departments with questions about impact metrics (including H-index) and in constructing searches to identify their cumulative research output.
