DF/BWCC 2020 Collaborative Symposium

The course is designed to give medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, midlevel providers (e.g. nurse practitioners and physician assistants) and nurses, updated information regarding the management of a broad spectrum of cancer types. The Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women’s Cancer Center (DFBWCC) has a robust faculty of sub-specialized medical and radiation oncologists who possess the most up-to-date expertise, best practices, research, and findings on virtually all cancer types. For this activity, subspecialists from the DFBWCC will discuss specifically: 1) Hypersensitivity Identification, Treatment and Workflow 2) New Approaches in Palliative Radiotherapy 3) Team Building and Collaboration

Target Audience

This activity is intended for the Dana-Farber Cancer Care Collaborative (The Collaborative). This includes clinical staff (physicians, nurses, mid-level practitioners) at the cancer centers throughout New England. These sites include: Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield, MA; Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis, MA; UMass Memorial Hospital in Worcester, MA; New England Cancer Specialists in Scarborough, ME; Northern Light Health EMMC in Bangor, ME; Stamford Hospital in Stamford CT.

 

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, attendees will be able to:

  1. Recognize and subsequently mitigate potential risk associated with medication related infusion reactions by adopting an updated hypersensitivity reaction algorithm and clinical workflow as outlined and demonstrated by DFCI/BWH.
  2. Apply knowledge of advances in palliative radiotherapy to the care of patients with cancer.
  3. Evaluate their current teams and adopt recommendations outlined in the presentation in order to improve their teams’ efficacy and promote a more productive and collaborative workgroup.
