NWH/MGH/MEEI Endocrine Oncology Conference 2021-2022 - non Mass General Brigham employees

Management of endocrine malignancies encompasses a multidisciplinary approach including endocrinologists, endocrine surgeons, pathologists, oncologists and radiologists. Members of this multidisciplinary team including trainees benefit from ongoing discussions regarding the rapidly evolving treatment strategies and multiple clinical trials available for the management of complex patients.

The Endocrine Oncology Conference will target complex cases that pose either diagnostic or management challenges.  The speaker will review updates in medical knowledge, diagnostics, controversies and future directions of endocrine oncology. 

The desired outcomes include informing participants of endocrine oncology knowledge, controversies and management of complex case. Attendees will be able to learn from the discussion held by experts but also participate with their own challenging cases.

Recent examples of challenging cases discussed include:

  1. Diagnosis and management of Thyroglossal Duct Cyst associated cancer

  2. Diagnosis, management and surveillance of Cowden’s disease

  3. Long term metastatic Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma with sudden progression and death 

Target Audience

This activity is intended for participants who need ongoing updates in the most recent advances in endocrine oncology, new discipline-specific trends, and cross-discipline resources for diagnosis and management of complex and challenging clinical scenarios.  Attendees will be able to relate to similar challenges in their own practice and therefore enrich their endocrine oncology knowledge.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify areas of improvement in management of complex endocrine oncology cases.
  2. Revise and compare current practice with most current literature.
  3. Discuss amongst experts’ alternative strategies to manage cases that pose diagnostic or management complexities.
