Module 9: Maine Nurse Core Competencies - A Framework to Ensure a Competent Maine Nursing Workforce for the Future

The Maine Nurse Core Competencies (MNCCs) were developed in 2013, by a diverse group of nurse leaders representing academia, practice and policy across the state.  The name of the group was the Maine Partners in Nursing Education and Practice.  With a focus on a seamless transition from academia to the workforce, the Maine Nurse Core Competencies provide a solid set of competencies for Maine’s nurses and serve as a foundation for bridging the education to practice gap.  The competencies are applicable across all care settings and encompass all populations across the lifespan. This module provides the learner with background on the origins of the competencies and a review of the competency frameworks.  Each of the learning modules in the Maine Nursing Preceptor Education Program are designed to align with the MNCCs and provide an evidence-based program for preceptor development.
