October 2, 2025 NWH Hospitalist Simulation Series 2025-2026

October 2, 2025

The NWH Hospitalist Simulation Series provides hospitalist MDs & PAs at Newton-Wellesley Hospital with the opportunity to practice & update their clinical skills in a low-risk environment. Simulation sessions are performed in a variety of fashions, including skills workshops (ultrasound guide IVs, task training for paracenteses & lumber punctures), clinical scenarios performed in the Simulation Center itself, and in-situ simulations performed on the hospital floors with multidisciplinary teams.

Target Audience

This activity is intended for physicians & PAs within Mass General Brigham.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate competency in managing uncommonly-encountered clinical scenarios. 
  2. Demonstrate awareness of changes to hospital policies & procedures as a result of simulation scenarios.
  3. Demonstrate the ability to place peripheral IV lines under ultrasound guidance, perform paracenteses, and lumbar punctures
  4. Develop “soft skills” such as communication, both from an interdisciplinary standpoint and with patients & their families.
