Learning Objectives

1.  Low bone density/osteoporosis is common pre-transplant.

2.  There is a precipitous drop in bone density in the first year after transplant, along with a high risk of vertebral fracture.

3.  Consider bisphosphonate treatment for at least 1 year in all transplant patients.
