This is a virtual course.
The Foundations of AI in Healthcare course is a five-session continuing medical education (CME) program designed to equip providers, nurses, and staff with a foundational understanding of artificial intelligence and its safe, effective, and ethical use across clinical, administrative, and research settings. Participants will gain essential knowledge, practical skills, and strategies for integrating AI tools into workflows while maintaining clinical oversight, patient trust, and compliance with institutional and regulatory standards.
Target Audience
This activity is intended for healthcare providers (clinicians, nurses, APPs), researchers, and staff across Mass General Brigham.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:
- Define foundational artificial intelligence concepts and describe the basic functionality of large language models (LLMs) relevant to healthcare settings.
- Explain common use cases for AI in healthcare, including examples that support clinical, operational, and administrative workflows.
- Summarize Mass General Brigham’s enterprise AI strategy and approach, including how AI tools are evaluated and approved for use.
- Identify the role of human oversight in AI-enabled workflows and recognize the limitations and common misconceptions associated with AI technologies.
- Apply organizational principles for responsible, secure, and ethical AI use when considering AI tools in their work.
