ForwardAddressing Child Maltreatment Concerns in the Acute Health Care Setting 2026 - Abu Dhabi
This two day educational program is designed to “train the trainer”, focusing on training a select group of physicians about diagnosis and management of child maltreatment in the acute healthcare setting. These physicians will then train colleagues throughout the Emirate on the following:
- Recognizing concerns, accessing support and guidance, and understanding the larger internal and external systems in Abu Dhabi designed to address child maltreatment
- Clarifying the reporting process in the healthcare sector and interfacing with families when there is a suspicion of child maltreatment
- Assessing, diagnosing, reporting, managing and treating concerns for child maltreatment
Target Audience
This activity is intended for a select group of Child Abuse Physicians in the Abu Dhabi healthcare system.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:
- Demonstrate understanding of the child protection system in Abu Dhabi
- Identify and evaluate child physical abuse, child sexual abuse, and child neglect
- Identify the possible bias that may impact evaluation of abuse
- Discuss the special vulnerabilities of children of determination
