Boston City Wide Allergy Rounds is an annual lecture series. The primary component of the program is a series of didactic lectures delivered by renowned national or international experts on topics of major importance in the field of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, Pulmonary Medicine, ENT or Dermatology. Allergy/Immunology is a rapidly evolving field requiring frequent updates of core knowledge. The Allergy seminars are designed to address knowledge (updated facts/information in a particular disease state), and competence (integrating newly acquired knowledge to manage allergic and immunologic disorders. This activity is designed to provide the learners the opportunity to listen to didactic lectures, which will impart knowledge, engage in Q&A with the faculty and participate in cased based presentations, which will help them develop strategies to use in practice. The interactive nature of the live session format will allow for improved competence and performance enhancement.

Target Audience

The target audience for this lecture series is open to all academic and community based Allergists, Pulmonologists, ENT specialists and Dermatologists, fellows in training as well as and registered nurses who work in the specialized fields of Medicine. It is targeted to the greater Boston and Eastern Massachusetts area.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe the major overall differences between asthma by age group     
  2. Describe differences in exacerbation prone patients by age group
  3. Describe patterns of corticosteroid response in adults and children with asthma
