Brigham Radiology offers a Radiology Observership program through the Brigham Radiology Continuing Medical Education (CME) office. Health professionals interested in spending time in the Brigham Radiology department as an observer must apply through this office and may request to spend time in one or more of the departmental sections, provided space is available.

Departmental sections include:
Abdominal Imaging and Intervention
AMIGO (Advanced Multimodality Image Guided Operating Suite)
Angiography Interventional Radiology
Breast Imaging
Cardiovascular Imaging
Emergency Radiology
Musculoskeletal Imaging
Neuroradiology
Nuclear Medicine Including PET Scan
Percutaneous Tumor Ablation
Thoracic Imaging
Ultrasound


DAILY SCHEDULE (Monday-Friday)

8:00-8:30 a.m.

Teaching Conference

8:30-12:00 p.m.

Observe in the Reading Room

12:00-1:00 p.m.

Lunch Recess
Optional - Daily Radiology Resident Teaching Conference and Grand Rounds if there is one

1:00-2:00 p.m.

Observe in the Reading Room

2:00-2:15 p.m.

Target Audience

This activity is intended for adiologists in private practice, academic physicians, primary care physician, obstetricians, gynecologists, other medical specialists who use imaging in their practice, sonographers and radiologic technologists.

Learning Objectives

For all sections of radiology, after completion of this course, participants should be able to:

1. Apply new imaging protocols to optimize diagnostic accuracy
2. Incorporate new guidelines for staging diseases and cancer e) employ sub-specialty specific reporting standards, such as ACR BIRADS and PIRADS interpretation, into the final report
3. Understand the role of image guided interventions for diagnosis and treatment
4. Identify optimal recommendations for, and multi-modality evaluation of questioned abnormalities seen on routine screening mammography.
5. Review a spectrum of indications for screening and diagnostic breast MRI exams, and their interpretation.
6. Acquire knowledge of image guided breast interventional procedures.
7. Describe how to use ultrasound in conjunction with other imaging modalities, when appropriate, to solve clinical problems
