Dennis Burke Quality and Safety Lecture: Safety Culture in the Time of the Pandemic
Patient safety culture refers to the habits and practices within a healthcare organization that support safe, high quality patient care and high reliability. It’s the product of individual and group values, attitudes, perceptions, and beliefs, which determine commitment to health and safety management. The literature shows a positive association between high safety culture scores and improved outcomes – such as fewer medication errors, lower staff burnout, and higher employee morale.
