MEMO Serious Illness Conversation
A “MEMO” is a 10-minute educational module that delivers clear, concise, relevant information to the learner using a computer, tablet, or mobile-phone for easy access.
Oncology nurses care for patients facing serious illnesses every day in both inpatient and outpatient hospital settings. They often form close relationships and get to know both their patients and their patient's families intimately. For this and other reasons, oncology nurses are uniquely positioned to engage patients in serious illness conversations. By discussing the benefits of serious illness conversation, practicing serious illness conversation skills, and reviewing documentation requirements we can improve nurse competency. When we increase patient access to serious illness conversations, we improve our chances of giving goal-concordant care.
This course offers engaging 10 minute modules in lecture format and a Q&A session to keep participants engaged.
