The early detection (and diagnosis) of all types of cancers must be made a priority both in terms of clinical care through patient screening and in research through rigorous scientific studies examining detection methods such as cf DNA, mRNA, and germ-line mutations. The early detection of germ-line mutation screening at birth of all newborns as proposed during Grand Rounds (EDDX) should become a routine modality of modern day cancer screening and prevention in the near future by directing adequate funding to investigative studies assessing its utility in terms of sensitivity and specificity as a prognostic marker of disease.

Single Dose HPV Vaccines offer multiple benefits to both patients and providers in the prevention of cervical cancer. The data on single dose HPV vaccines shows long-term efficacy especially in young girls under the age of 15 and also in older women obtaining vaccination later in life. Numerous countries worldwide have moved towards single- dose vaccines given the benefits of lower costs while maintaining efficacy against HPV infection. The combination of screening and population-wide vaccination will serve to lower the rates of cervical cancer worldwide.
