MGH Immersive XR Infection Prevention & Control Foundations
Infection prevention and control practices are essential to providing safe and high quality patient care. Accurate and consistent implementation of Standard Precautions constitutes the primary strategy for preventing the transmission of infectious agents among patients and healthcare personnel in all healthcare settings. By strengthening your understanding of Standard Precautions, this module will equip you to protect your patients, yourself, and your colleagues.
In this module, healthcare staff walk through a realistic healthcare environment and keep an eye out for potential infection risks or actions that their colleagues (within the module) may accidentally be doing wrong and correct their actions. Learners can practice identifying infection risks in the healthcare environment, while also completing a variety of tasks and practicing Standard Precaution techniques for: hand hygiene, proper use of PPE for different tasks, respiratory etiquette, handling contaminated textiles, and performing clean and disinfection. The module was designed using competency-based educational (CBE) theory and informed by infection control experts. This VR module can be downloaded into your headset & done in the privacy of your own home.
