MGH Respectful Maternity Care & Shared Decision Making 2024
THIS IS A VIRTUAL COURSE.
This activity will bring visibility and awareness to trauma-informed care (TIC) in obstetrics. Key components of TIC will be introduced and reviewed, with a structured debriefing following a recorded simulated patient interaction.
Insights from the ongoing Barriers to Respectful Maternity Care at MGH Study reveal that only 24% of respondents reported receiving training about respectful maternity care during their employment at MGH, highlighting the need for further development of these skills.
Target Audience
This activity is intended for all MGH healthcare providers who work with the obstetric population.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:
- Recognize embodiment of psychological trauma in a patient.
- Apply respectful care in a trauma-informed manner by using a shared decision making model.
- Identify key characteristics interdisciplinary communication to advocate for shared decision making.
