Midlife Women's Health 2021: A Multidisciplinary Approach to Care

May 14, 2021

This is a Virtual Conference with Live-Streamed Interactive Q & A and Expert Panel Sessions

Description

Midlife Women’s Health 2021 provides a multi-disciplinary approach to the care of menopausal women. Advances in research, technology, and pharmacology increase options available for midlife women, but this rapidly changing knowledge-base presents a challenge for clinicians. Care for women at this stage of life is optimized by education on a range of medical concerns provided by experts from a wide variety of medical specialties. Given demographic changes in the US population, midlife women are becoming an increasingly important group served by health care providers, with needs that cross many areas of medical expertise.

Target Audience

This educational activity is designed for physicians and advance practice nurses in general medicine, gynecology, surgery and related subspecialties. Physicians and advance practice nurses in-training also are encouraged to attend.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Assess a woman’s risk of breast cancer and guide her in selecting available treatment options.
  2. Formulate a strategy to reduce a woman’s risk of osteoporosis and fractures.
  3. Evaluate and manage distressing sexual problems affecting midlife women
  4. Recognize, assess, and address unique risk factors for hypertension in aging women to optimize management.
  5. Integrate physical therapy in the treatment of women’s musculoskeletal, genitourinary, and sexual dysfunction.
  6. Provide midlife women with appropriate vaccinations for routine care and international travel.
  7. Evaluate symptomatic midlife women for menopausal hormone therapy, incorporating an individualized assessment of risks and benefits.
  8. Assess and treat common gastroenterology problems in older women using a range of effective interventions.
  9. Employ non-pharmacologic strategies to reduce the high levels of stress experienced by midlife women to improve health and wellbeing.
