NeuroRestorative National Medical Directors’ Conference 2024
This is an in-person activity.
This in person activity will bring together Medical Directors at all NeuroRestorative facilities. It will address three areas of clinical practice that are among those confronted by NeuroRestorative Medical Directors:
- Impaired gait continues to be a problem in many patients with stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury months and years after injury. Therapeutic approaches have shown some promise, but limited success.
- Overweight and obesity commonly develop or worsen after neurologic injury such as stroke and brain injury, leading to diabetes, heart disease, and other medical illness. Overweight and obesity also increase physical disability. Reduced activity, impaired control of behavior, and emotional issues are contributing factors.
- Traumatic brain injury is in many ways a chronic disease, with long-term medical, physical, emotional, and behavioral ramifications that contribute to disability and illness.
Target Audience
This activity is intended for Medical Directors (MDs, DOs) who practice at NeuroRestorative facilities in 28 states across the United States.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:
- Identify treatment approaches to chronic traumatic brain injury.
- Explain the interaction of factors contributing to obesity after brain injury and stroke.
- Describe the mechanism by which rhythmic auditory stimulation can improve gait.
