Target Audience

This activity is intended for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Identify ways in which REMS programs help to improve patient safety in the setting of high-risk medications
  • Describe the differences in how hazardous and non-hazardous agents are prepared, stored, and distributed within the hospital
  • Review the various pharmacy technologies that ensure the safety and accuracy of medication dispensing
  • Review the various limitations present in pharmacy technologies and ways to prevent and/or address such issues
