Primary Care Diabetes Case Conference

This conference will focus on the use of glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP1) receptor agonists and sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors as the standard of care in management of Type 2 Diabetes.  Drs. Deborah Wexler and Enrico Cagliero from the MGH Diabetes Center will review some of the most common questions they receive from Primary Care about the use of these medications with special emphasis on safety, managing side effects, and considerations for changing medications.

Attendees are encouraged to bring additional case studies for discussion as time allows.

Target Audience

This activity is intended for Primary Care Physicians and APPs within the Mass General Brigham system.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Apply latest standards of care for Type 2 Diabetes into their clinical practice.
  2. Describe functions and indications of SGLT-2 and GLP-1 classes of medication.
  3. Consider applications of novel diabetes medications in their clinical practice.
  4. Develop strategies for employing team-based care in managing Type 2 Diabetes.
  5. Identify opportunities to further integrate diabetes nurse teaching visits into regular operations.
