This lecture series provides cutting edge updates on topics of clinical importance to local specialists in the fields of Allergy and Immunology as well as specialists in the field of Pulmonary Medicine, ENT and Dermatology from the local teaching hospitals in Boston as well as the surrounding communities. The audience also includes fellows in training in allergy and immunology, Pulmonary Medicine and ENT. By selecting speakers of national renown and addressing a spectrum of topics, this series is a major educational event in the monthly academic calendar in Boston.
Target Audience
This activity is intended for all academic and community based allergists, pulmonologists, ENT specialists, dermatologists, fellows in training, and nurses. It is targeted to the greater Boston and Eastern Massachusetts area.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:
- Review definitions for OIT outcomes reported in the literature (Desensitization, sustained unresponsiveness, Remission)
- Compare varying strategies for OIT dosing (high dose, FDA-approved, very-low dose) with regards to outcomes, safety, treatment burden
- Discuss OIT approaches for different patient characteristics the right patient (infant/failed LEAP, toddler, high-threshold, teenagers/adults)
