Serious Illness Conversation Guide Training (Blended Learning)
The Serious Illness Conversation Guide Training introduces learners to the Serious Illness Conversation Guide, a tool to help them have more, earlier, and better conversations with their patients about their goals, values and priorities to inform their (the patients’) care.
Target Audience
This activity is intended for physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, social workers & other members of the healthcare team.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:
- Demonstrate thorough understanding of the components of the Serious Illness Conversation Guide.
- Use the guide to enhance communication skills in a clinical setting through practice.
- Reflect on their own strengths and challenges in using the Guide Demonstrate confidence and comfort in talking to patients and their families about serious illness and palliative care.
- Demonstrate understanding of ways in which interprofessional approaches to serious illness conversations can support learning and practice, as well as patient care.

Social Workers
As a Jointly Accredited Organization, Mass General Brigham is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved under this program. State and provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether an individual course may be accepted for continuing education credit. Upon successful completion of this activity, if you wish to receive MOC Part 2 points you will need to enter your ABIM ID number and birthday (month/day) in your profile. The Mass General Brigham Office of Continuing Professional Development will verify completion of the activity and report to the ABIM. . Diplomates are responsible for checking their ABIM Portfolio for confirmation of MOC Part 2 points.
MOC RECOGNITION STATEMENT
