Sleep Health Across the Lifespan: Assessment, Behavioral, Medical, and Surgical Treatments

This program will cover best practices for managing sleep disorders across the lifespan. Expert presenters from MGB will cover the importance of evaluation and treatment of sleep issues. Panelists will discuss effective therapies that include behavioral approaches, device-based therapies, medications, and surgical interventions. The program will include case-based learning focused on multidisciplinary and collaborative approaches to caring for patients with sleep disorders.  There will be a Q&A with MGB presenters and two local providers (a pulmonologist and dentist who treats sleep-disordered breathing).

Target Audience

This course in intended for Bermudian primary care physicians, pediatricians, pulmonary specialists, dental professions treating sleep disordered breathing, public health professions from MoH and Bermuda Health Board.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Define sleep and identify its disorders.
  2. Summarize cornerstones of good sleep.
  3. Develop an approach to diagnose sleep disturbances.
  4. Decide on treatment of sleep disorders or referral to subspecialty clinics.
