Treating Depression and Anxiety in a Pandemic: Pharmacologic Approaches
Description
In this 90-minute seminar, attendees will learn pharmacologic treatment approaches for Panic Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, PTSD, and depression with clinical pearls to optimize the care of adult patients. Straightforward techniques for advancing beyond the single SSRI, managing SSRI adverse effects, and safely using benzodiazepines will also be covered. This course is geared to those looking for a focused psychopharmacology refresher to better address the mental health sequelae of COVID-19.
Target Audience
This activity is intended for physicians, nurses and advanced practice providers.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:
- Describe pharmacologic treatments for depression and anxiety.
- Summarize strategies for managing potential side effects of SSRI medications.
- Identify when referral to Psychiatry is appropriate.
