DESCRIPTION

This one hour online presentation will provide a brief overview of the historical context of women in sport, as well as the myriad benefits of female athletic participation. We will then focus on sex-specific differences in hip region structure, function, and injury patterns in female compared to male athletes with the goal of improving specialized musculoskeletal care for this growing population.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

1. Identify the importance of specialized musculoskeletal care for female athletes

2. Discuss sex-specific differences in hip region structure and function

3. Examine disparities in intra-articular and extra-articular athletic injury patterns

TARGET AUDIENCE

This program is intended for Physicians and other clinical staff at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital.
