Building DE&I Competencies for Business Success 2021
Building DE&I Competencies for Business Success is a program designed to increase the competency of our HR Business Partners in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. The overall goal is to have HR be a sought-after DE&I resource that can coach managers and other key personnel across the system in the application of DE&I skills. The program will provide technology to support the creation of an inclusive and diverse workforce/workplace.
Learning Objectives
- Understand and apply DE&I concepts to daily HR processes and practices
- Gain an appreciation and ability to leverage the value that DE&I has on Mass General Brigham’s mission and business success
- Strengthen leadership abilities to effectively collaborate with leaders and staff while mediating DE&I challenges and outcomes.

Shawn Mott
Shawn is one of our Sr Consultant within the DEIO. Prior to officially joining the team, Shawn had worked with this office over the past five years to help shape, design and deliver the Inclusive Leadership for Managers series to leaders across our system. Fortunate for us, he will continue to serve as a critical guidance and insight to this work. Other primary responsibilities at this time include; working across the system to coach, guide and advise our various Diversity Councils on matters ranging from Charter Development to strategic planning and overall culture change with a lens and focus on Organizational Development.
Shawn has more than two decades experience in HR, DEI and Organizational Effectiveness. Much of his industry work has been in Healthcare having worked in a leadership capacity at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Independence Blue Cross, and American Diabetes Association. Areas of focus has included DEI, Succession Planning, Large-scale organizational change management, Leadership Development and implementation management of Learning Management Systems.
Sandra Bonnici
Sandra is one of our Sr. Consultants within the DEIO who started in January of 2021. In her role, Sandra consults with senior leaders’, councils, and entities system-wide to support their work in creating inclusive and equitable policies and practice and linking their work to the UAR strategy goals and outcomes.
Sandra brings over 20 years experience in DEI, Change Management, Board Development, and Non-Profit leadership. She is founder of Sandra Bonnici Consulting whose clients include Mass Cultural Council and National Association of Arts Agencies. In 2019 she was named a Senior Fellow for the American Alliance of Museum to work on field wide strategies for racial equity at the board level of museums and cultural arts centers throughout the United States.
Rosa L. Hunter
Through her consulting practice, Rosa focuses on diversity, inclusion and equity through the lenses of organizational change, leadership development, and employee empowerment. Her work with leaders results in the successful implementation of initiatives critical to the successful evolution of their organization’s culture, policies and management practices. Her work with employees allows them to understand the key tenets of diversity, inclusion and equity and to identify tangible ways of contributing to their own and the organization’s success. Rosa’s consulting practice also provides a host of other services including strategic planning/visioning, organizational assessments and problem solving, meeting design and facilitation, management and leadership assessment and training, support for individual and group mentoring processes and employee resource groups.
