DESCRIPTION: 

Join us for an engaging presentation about Social Services at Mass General led by Clinical Director of Social Services, Lourdes Barros, LICSW who will speak to the importance of social work and the impact social services have on our patients’ well-being and how social services impact throughput at Mass General. The discussion will also focus on the evolution of social work over time, the expansive role and responsibilities of social work here at Mass General and examine best practices.


LEARNING OBJECTIVES: 

Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Recognize the history of social work & its evolution over time.
  2. Identify the role of social work on multidisciplinary teams at Mass General and the impact social services have on the care for patients and their families.
  3. Review scope of practice and clinical services available to assist patients and their families.

TARGET AUDIENCE: 

This activity is intended for all Massachusetts General Hospital clinicians interested in learning tactics and best practices for patient experience related discussions.
