DESCRIPTION:
Join us for a critical presentation by Debra L. Drumm, MSW LICSW, Director of HAVEN (Hospitals Helping Abuse and Violence End Now) and VIAP (Violence Intervention Advocacy Program) at Massachusetts General Hospital, on supporting survivors of intimate partner violence. Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) has a significant impact on the health and well-being of our patients. The medical setting provides a unique opportunity to provide psychoeducation, support, and safety planning to everyone we come in contact with.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:
- Define IPV & identify how survivors of IPV present in the medical setting.
- Review services available at Massachusetts General Hospital and within the community.
- Identify ways in which to best support survivors who disclose IPV and best practices for referring them to services.
TARGET AUDIENCE:
This activity is intended for all Massachusetts General Hospital clinicians interested in learning tactics and best practices for patient experience related discussions.
