The Foundations of AI in Healthcare course is a five-session continuing medical education (CME) program designed to equip providers, nurses, and staff with a foundational understanding of artificial intelligence and its safe, effective, and ethical use across clinical, administrative, and research settings. Participants will gain essential knowledge, practical skills, and strategies for integrating AI tools into workflows while maintaining clinical oversight, patient trust, and compliance with institutional and regulatory standards.
Target Audience
This activity is intended for healthcare providers (clinicians, nurses, APPs), researchers, and staff across Mass General Brigham.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:
- Describe Mass General Brigham’s AI governance framework and how it guides the evaluation and approval of AI tools.
- Identify key privacy, security, and regulatory considerations—including PHI and PII protections—when using AI in healthcare settings.
- Apply best practices for the responsible and secure adoption of AI, including strategies to mitigate risk and ensure appropriate oversight.
- Recognize how bias, fairness, and equity are evaluated in approved AI tools and explain the importance of transparent communication about AI use with patients and care teams.
