Dermatology E-Consults for Primary Care Providers

Dermatology eConsults for Primary Care Providers will assist in the transfer of knowledge from dermatology specialists to primary care providers when treating common skin conditions. The three areas in which this course will focus are (1) eConsults Overview for Primary Care Providers (2) Adult Primary Care Toolkit (3) Pediatric Primary Care Toolkit. Electronic consults ("eConsults") represent an asynchronous form of peer-to-peer telemedicine consultation.

Target Audience

This activity is intended for Physicians, Nurses, and Physician Assistants across the Mass General Brigham system.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to: 

  1. Demonstrate the ability to properly photograph the skin with attention to lighting, focus, and complementary body sites.
  2. Diagnose common adult and pediatric dermatologic conditions that fall into the following categories: inflammatory, infectious, and neoplastic processes.
  3. Select and apply first-line treatment strategies for the above conditions, with emphasis on building a “primary care toolkit” that includes general skin care products, anti-inflammatory treatments (steroid and non-steroid), and anti-infectives, in collaboration with other dermatology specialists.
