The Office of Continuing Professional Development provides team-oriented, evidence-based educational activities that are designed to improve clinical practice, clinical decision-making, quality patient outcomes and safety, and advance professional development.
The Program expects the following results, which are evaluated through informal and formal review processes:
- Strengthened team-based education planning and implementation
- Advances in interprofessional practice that implement the latest evidence-based practice and research
- Improvements in quality and safety that result in improved patient care and outcomes
- Increased system-wide collaboration among team members to learn from, with, and about each other, demonstrated by an increase in the volume of activities designed for team learning
Our office supports educational interventions for health care providers throughout the United States and around the globe, featuring primary source subject matter experts from our many Harvard Medical School-affiliated hospitals, other top tier academic medical centers, and experienced clinicians and researchers working in a range of community based, long-term care, and rehabilitative settings. It is a priority to foster interprofessional education, thereby promoting team cohesion to improve patient care.
