PLEASE NOTE: The registration for this activity will open in late February, and the case discussion schedule will be posted at that time as well. Live (virtual) case discussions will be held weekly in March & early April, and a recorded case discussion will also be posted for asynchronous learning (either will satisfy the requirement). You will receive a reminder once the registration is live.

Please contact Emily Campbell (ejcampbell@mgh.harvard.edu) with any questions!

In 2002, The Institute of Medicine identified provider-held unconscious bias as one of the 3 root causes for racial or ethnic health disparities, with access and mistrust being the other two.  As part of the Department of Medicine’s Anti-Racism Strategy, we will begin to address provider-held unconscious or implicit bias during Term 1 2021 of the MGPO Quality Incentive Program. QI Program-eligible physicians will be asked:

  1. To participate in a case-based module to learn about unconscious or implicit bias and understand its impact on the delivery of clinical care. This module will include a discussion of microaggressions and provide a framework to address microaggressions. (Live sessions will occur in Mar – mid Apr; recorded sessions for asynchronous learning will also be posted. Course schedule/registration will be posted in February.)
  2. To take the Race ('Black-White') implicit association test (IAT).
  3. To provide 3 changes to their practice that they will implement based on this learning
