Gun Violence Prevention

According to the CDC, more Americans died of gun-related injuries in 2020 than in any other year on record - that included a record number of gun murders, as well as a near record number of gun suicides . Nurses and other healthcare providers are well positioned to lead efforts to increase awareness of safe gun storage.  Team members have expressed minimal knowledge regarding firearm safety, safe gun storage.  Gun safety questions need to be part of the patient assessment upon arrival into the hospital.
