Join us for an engaging presentation about normalizing disability culture in healthcare where our presenters will identify healthcare disparities in the medical versus social model and discuss how these disparities impact the care for patients with disabilities. The discussion will also focus on examining best practices in communication, speaking specifically to disability etiquette and culture, as well as system improvements specific to patient access and services.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:
- Identify healthcare disparities – medical versus social model – and the impacts these disparities have on the care for patients with disabilities
- Examine best practices in communication including disability etiquette and culture
- Evaluate system improvements specific to patient access and services
