DESCRIPTION

This one hour online presentation will focus on common rehabilitation needs within the breast cancer population. I’ll be discussing the aromatase inhibitor induced arthralgia, post-mastectomy pain syndrome, chemotherapy induced peripheral neuropathy, lymphedema, axillary web syndrome and cancer related fatigue. All in relation to treatment options for all of those need. Then we will discuss the concept of Pre-Habilitation and understanding the specific goals within the breast cancer population.


LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Understand common rehabilitation needs within the breast cancer patient population
  2. Understand treatment options for those rehabilitation needs
  3. Understand the concept of pre-habilitation
  4. Understand the specific goals of pre-habilitation within the breast cancer patient population
  5. Discuss the future of pre-habilitation within the general oncologic patient population

This program is intended for Physicians and other clinical staff at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital.

Alexandra Geundersen, MD

Dr. Alexandra Gundersen is originally from Cape Cod, MA. She is a third year PM&R resident and one of the current chief residents at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital/Harvard Medical School. She previously attended Villanova University where I received my undergraduate degree in Biology., and then attended Penn State College of Medicine for her medical school training prior to returning to her home state to complete her PM&R residency. She has particular interests in sports medicine and cancer rehabilitation within PM&R.
