DESCRIPTION

This one hour online presentation will explore how physiatrists in many areas of practice encounter lower urinary dysfunction resulting from neurologic conditions. Symptoms of lower urinary dysfunction are frequently distressing to patients and may limit participation and quality of life. Physiatrists play an essential role in patient education and symptom management during the rehabilitative process. Familiarity with urologic management allows physiatrists to better coordinate care between specialists and provide appropriate guidance to the patients we serve.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

1. Describe a systematic approach to lower urinary tract dysfunction in a rehab population
2. Review common patterns of lower urinary tract dysfunction and their appearance on urodynamic studies
3. Review common neurogenic bladder management strategies: pharmacologic interventions prescribed by physiatrists, bladder botox, common surgical interventions

This program is intended for Physicians and other clinical staff at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital.
