Session 1 Optional: Driver Diagram
Driver Diagram: a visual display of a team's theory of what "drives" or contributes to, the achievement of a project aim.
- It helps to answer the question “Where do I begin? What is the relationship between the cause and effect?”
- It captures an entire change program in a single diagram and also provides a measurement framework for monitoring progress.
- It is a useful way to break down complex problems into manageable chunks.
The Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) has some great videos and examples of driver diagrams. To learn more, visit http://www.ihi.org/resources/Pages/Tools/Driver-Diagram.aspx.
