DESCRIPTION
The Stepping Strong Injury Prevention Program's mission is to reduce the burden of injury by advancing evidenced-based prevention activities through community outreach, research of best practices, and training of healthcare professionals at the Brigham and beyond. As part of our training initiative, we host quarterly virtual “Lunch & Learns” at the Brigham. These “Lunch & Learns” consist of speakers from outside of the Brigham to provide education to our injury prevention program stakeholders on various injury prevention topics. Previous Lunch & Learn event topics included innovations in older adult falls prevention programs, the responsibility of hospitals to address violence prevention, and opioid use disorder prevention.
TARGET AUDIENCE
Our target audience includes both internal stakeholders from Brigham and Women's Hospital, as well as external stakeholders from organizations such as the Departments of Public Health, surrounding Boston-area hospitals, and our local community-based organizations. Audience members are from various backgrounds such as clinicians, researchers, public health professionals, local and state government, and the community-based non-profit sector.
LEARNING OBJECTIVE
Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:
- Describe injury prevention and describe the multiple topic areas that the field of injury prevention encompasses.
- Develop partnerships and opportunities for collaboration across various public health sectors
