Ending Racism: Everyone's Responsibility

The videos were insightful and did help me see challenges from other people's points of view. You don't understand something as well as you do when it fully affects you. So being able to see 4 people who were complete opposites and how these small decisions can change everything is mind-altering.

interrogating hierarchies

The ranking MD in these scenarios (Dr Carter?) definitely made some progress. But it would have been good to see an interrogation of the way all three medical personnel (attending, resident and student) had racialized attitudes toward the notion of being (mis)associated with nutritional and EVS work/jobs. Yes, it is racist behavior for a white patient to associate clinicians of color with servitude, and for a white attending to be a passive bystander in the face of that racism. But the demeaning, stratified attitudes of MD-level clinical staff toward nursing, transport, janitorial and food service work is as much a contributor to institutional racism as are the overtly racist behaviors of individual patients and staff.
