Course Description

The Lawrence Center Minicourse series is intended for quality leaders and their key staff who would benefit from understanding the Quality and Safety landscape and, more importantly, to learn more about different approaches and tools that are available to support their quality and safety improvement work at MGH/MGPO.

Trainings are designed to provide education on fundamental core concepts and content to equip quality leaders at MGH/MGPO with tools to design, implement and spread effective and sustainable improvements in Quality & Safety. Each course will focus on one topic related to safety training, quality & safety measurement tools, or another topic relevant to advancing quality and safety at Mass General. Course topics are generally repeated approximately every 18 months in order to provide the latest information to participants. New topics are added as needed.


Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe the portfolio and functionality of Tableau interactive tools designed to help quality leaders obtain and analyze data related to safety reports, hospital readmissions, core measures, hospital compare, and patient experience.
  2. Summarize how interdisciplinary teams can work together to prepare for the 2023 Joint Commission survey
  3. Describe how departments can set up Peer Support programs and spread the use of these programs to interdisciplinary teams.

Target Audience

This activity is intended for members of the Quality and Patient Safety Committee (QPSC) and staff they work with who will benefit from the training.
