This bystander education course will provide employees with an understanding of how interpersonal racism continues to support and maintain systemic racism. Through scenario-based learning, participants will develop skills for recognizing racial bias and confronting discrimination. An overview of related Human Resources policies and practices will be given to support employees in actively dismantling racism within Mass General Brigham.

I Agree
Having the ability to view how bias, prejudice, and racism can affect various individuals in different professions throughout the hospital was important to show. The only thing I wish the training touched upon further was less obvious forms of prejudice and racism that can plague a work environment. I think they tried with the social media scene, the scene with the two female employees after the male employee made the joke, and the scene where the employee interpreted that she should act more white. However, many times bias and racism can be less obvious and I think more scenes like those may help enlighten people about acts that are more unconscious.

I Liked the different perspectives.
Usually with training we only see one side. I liked how we saw things from different perspectives and saw that it took sacrifices to make changes.

Being able to live in someone else's shoes just for a minute had a lasting effect on my point of view towards how they may respond to what has been said.

Excellent point
Krystal, you make a great point, if we all take the time to put ourselves in someone else's shoes and contemplate the situation it gives an opportunity to reflect and respond appropriately in many situations.
