This bystander education course will provide employees with an understanding of how interpersonal racism continues to support and maintain systemic racism. Through scenario-based learning, participants will develop skills for recognizing racial bias and confronting discrimination. An overview of related Human Resources policies and practices will be given to support employees in actively dismantling racism within Mass General Brigham.

The training was so well-put together! I think many other institutions might benefit from these same training videos. I learned tools to cope with and help others in situations of micro-aggressions and blatant racism.

A way forward
While there is much work to be done, it has to begin with awareness and recognition. This program will hopefully validate experiences for some and trigger reflection in others, hopefully heighten awareness and in turn begin to change behavior.
